The Finish Is Decided Before the Paint Opens

Two painters can put the same paint on the same wall and get completely different results. The difference is what happened in the six hours before the first coat. Filling the nail pops. Sanding the old patch flat instead of just wider. Caulking the gap where the trim meets the wall. Masking the floor properly rather than laying a sheet down and hoping.

That is the part of interior painting people never see and cannot price, so it is the first thing most painters drop. I do it on every job. Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, closets and the awkward bits behind the toilet all get the same treatment.

What Interior Painting Covers

Most interior jobs are some combination of these. Which ones you need depends on the age of the house, the condition of the surfaces, and how big a change you are making.

Walls

Two coats over a prepared surface. Dark to light, or a strong color going on bare patch work, will need a primer coat first and I will say so up front.

Ceilings

Flat ceiling white over patched and stained areas. Water stains get sealed with a stain-blocking primer, because emulsion alone will let them bleed straight back through.

Trim, Doors and Baseboards

Caulked, sanded and cut in by hand. A harder enamel finish here, because trim gets touched, kicked and cleaned in a way walls do not.

Closets, Hallways and Stairwells

The spaces that get left out of quotes. Stairwells in particular need proper staging to reach safely, which is why some crews would rather not mention them.

Accent Walls and Color Changes

A single wall in a deeper color, or a whole-house change from a builder beige. Big color changes need more coats and that goes in the quote, not on the invoice.

Patching and Repair First

Nail pops, settlement cracks, anchor holes, corner bead dents and old wallpaper glue all get dealt with before any paint goes near them.

Why Choose Us for Interior Painting?

Prep is quoted, not skipped

Patching, caulking and sanding are part of the price rather than an extra that appears later.

Cut in by hand

Ceiling lines and trim edges are cut in with a brush. Tape alone leaves a ridge and bleeds on textured walls.

Your house stays usable

Floors covered, furniture centered and wrapped, tape pulled the same day, and the room handed back before I leave.

How an Interior Job Runs

Walk the rooms

I look at every surface you want painted, note the repairs, and check what the existing finish is.

Price the scope

You get a written number covering the rooms, the surfaces and the prep, so there is nothing to argue about later.

Protect and prepare

Furniture moved and covered, floors masked, fixtures protected, then patching, sanding and caulking.

Prime where it is needed

Bare patches, stains and heavy color changes get primed. Not every wall needs it and I will not charge for coats that do nothing.

Two finish coats

Applied by brush, roller or sprayer depending on the surface and the room.

Walk it with you

Tape comes off, the space gets cleaned, and I look at it together before it is called done.

Interior Painting Questions

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house in Little Rock?

A three bedroom interior with walls, ceilings and trim usually runs $3,000 to $7,500, and most land near $4,800. A single bedroom with walls only is typically $300 to $600. The spread comes from ceiling height, how much patching the walls need, and whether trim and doors are included.

How many coats will you put on?

Two finish coats as standard. A large color change, a strong color, or fresh patch work will need a primer coat underneath first. I tell you that when I quote, not when I invoice.

Do I have to be home while you paint?

No. Plenty of customers give me access and go to work. I will agree how you want the house left each day.

Can you paint over wallpaper?

Sometimes, but it is usually a bad idea. Paint soaks the paper and the seams lift. Removing it properly costs more up front and saves you repainting the same wall twice.

How long before I can put the room back together?

Walls are dry to touch in a few hours. Leave trim and doors overnight before anything leans on them, and give enamel a few days before you scrub it.
